Enchanted Trail

National Donut Day

Summer Read Program Blast Off!
June 1st at 5 pm in the Effingham Public Library. Blast off from Earth and travel throughout the Solar System, as you participate in crafts, games and more while filling up your Astronaut Passport! Whether digging through Moon Sand for out-of-this-world treasurers, making alien slime on Mars, hula-hooping on Saturn or launching asteroids throughout the Milky Way, you are sure to have a blast, as the library kicks off the Summer Read program. Other activities include an Astronaut Training Course, make/take craft stations, outer space Bingo and treats from Homewood Grill. Farmer’s Market Story Time

T-Ball League
June 2nd at Evergreen Hollow Park or Community Park for boys and girls ages 4 – 5. T-Ball develops the primary baseball skills of hitting, fielding and throwing. Official tee-balls are used and the bases are 50′. This is a coach-pitch league and all games are played on Saturday mornings. Registrations accepted through April 20th. Fee: $25 if you reside in the district and $57 out of district. We will accept registrations after April 20th if there is room in the league. A $10.00 late fee will be assessed after that date. Buckin’ For Wishes Rodeo
June 2nd from 4:30 – 10 pm in Effingham County Fairgrounds. Effingham County Fairgrounds has partnered with CBAR Rodeo Company to bring a rough stock, high energy, crazy fun night of Bull Riding, Barrel Racing, Trick Riding by Dixie Stampedes Dusti Crain-Dickerson and a kids round up! Gates will open at 4:30 pm, opening ceremony starts at 6:45 pm, and the rodeo kicks off at 7:00 pm. We will have local food and beer vendors available from 5 – 9 pm. Open House at Teutopolis Monastery Museum

Enduring Freedom Ministries Food & Clothing Distribution Dates
Do you know about Enduring Freedom Ministries? They are located at 304 S. West Street in Shumway and will be providing services on the following dates: Tuesday’s June 5th and 12th from 4-6p.m., Wednesday’s June 13th & 20th from noon to 2p.m. and Saturday, June 30th from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Please call 217-868-5293 or 217-240-1736 to schedule your free appointment! There are no requirements and you DO NOT HAVE TO LIVE IN EFFINGHAM COUNTY! We also invite everyone besides your scheduled appointments, to come any time Tues-Thurs. from noon to 2p.m. to pick up free perishables, (fruits, vegetables, bread, etc.).

They are also very excited to announce the target date for the opening of Enduring Freedom Ministries’ Soup Kitchen is June 30th! Anyone and everyone is invited to come for a free meal between 8:30-noon. EFM is in the process of installing a brand new kitchen thanks to the wonderful support of: Effingham Builder’s Supply, John Boos Inc., Sherwin Williams, Diligent Hands Metalworking, Sweitzer Home Inspection, and individuals: Corbin Mathey, Gary Painter, Glen Reed, and Justin Schoenfelder. Veterans Fest

There will be live entertainment, an exhibit of the Bell Huey Flying Helicopter, an exhibit of the 80% Scale Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall and so much more! Laker Visit Day
June 21st from 9 am – noon in the Luther Student Center. The event is for potential students who are interested in learning more about Lake Land College. Parents/guardians and spouses are welcome to come along and attend the Parent and Spouse Session. Representatives from Admissions & Records, Financial Aid & Veteran Services, Counseling Services, Career Services and Student Life will provide information and answer questions. The event includes campus tours and informational sessions by Lake Land College Student Ambassadors. Parking in the Northwest lot is recommended. Moccasin Creek Festival
June 21st – June 24th at Lake Sara in Effingham. Moccasin Creek Festival is an annual 3-day music festival, which typically celebrates other arts and crafts as well. The lake was created in the 1950’s from five creeks that run through the basin. One of those creeks was named Moccasin Creek by a surveyor named Tipsword in the 1850’s, because of moccasin tracks he found on the banks. Food and beverages sold on site. Kids activities. Camping is next door to the festival venue, as well as cabins for rent. There is a beach and golf course within walking distance. Boats, canoes and kayaks for rent. Lego Club

Book Sale
June 23rd from 9 am – 2 pm in the Effingham Public Library. Children’s books are sold in their own special area that allows easier access for those with strollers. No items will be sold prior to the book sale date. Book donations are accepted at the library check out desk during regular library hours.
